Transporting an A-6 Intruder

High Load Escort

A Mission of Precision

Our Specialized Transportation Services group recently had the honor of participating in a unique mission: moving an A-6 Intruder airplane. This wasn't just any delivery; it was a crucial part of a week-long training program for military aircraft recovery specialists. The mission involved transporting the A-6 Intruder 30 miles from Volk Field, Wisconsin, to the Hardwood Bombing Range. Once there, the aircraft was staged in a simulated crash site. This provided a realistic scenario for military personnel from the U.S. and eight partner nations to practice essential rescue and recovery efforts.

Unique Challenges, Meticulous Planning

Moving an aircraft of this size presents a unique set of challenges that demand meticulous planning and specialized expertise. Our team was involved every step of the way, from initial planning to final delivery. We handled many of the critical logistical details including detailed route planning, navigating travel restrictions and managing traffic. Thanks to the exceptional work of our team, the entire project was completed without a single delay, extra cost, or damage to the aircraft. We were proud to play a part in a successful training exercise that helps prepare military personnel for real-world scenarios.
